A Lobby That’s Not Just a Lobby...

When you stroll through the front doors of the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, home of the Artesia Arts Council, you’ll be greeted by more than just the typical fine arts lobby. Yes, you’ll find the electric painted floors, the soothing mood lighting, and the cozy seating areas inviting you to relax. The polished wooden doors beckon you into the auditorium, where countless performers have captivated audiences. But this space is far more than it seems.

The lobby doubles as a vibrant gallery, a dynamic showcase for the artistic treasures of Southeastern New Mexico and beyond. With our innovative wire and hook hanging system, and an array of tables, pedestals, and easels, we proudly display a diverse collection of artwork and fine crafts. Here, you’ll discover everything from intricately designed horseshoe and rope sculptures to cutting-edge digital abstracts, from fantastically ornate cow heads to exquisite textile pieces.

This gallery space also serves as the heart of our fine arts competitions, where entries are displayed with pride. Our calendar is filled with exciting events, including yearly pop-up art competitions, juried shows, and the prestigious Dave Boneau Juried All Media Show, ensuring there’s always something new and captivating for the community to enjoy.

Moreover, our collaboration with MainStreet Artesia allows us to extend our reach even further, displaying our private collection in the charming 510 Gallery. Through this partnership, we enrich the cultural tapestry of our town, making art accessible and engaging for all.

At the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, every visit is a journey into the heart of creativity, where the talents of our local artisans are celebrated and shared with the world.
